A tribal kid, came fishing to the pond at BR Hills to provide for the sunday feast at home. He was awesome, easily the best around there. Certainly some light shines on him.

Realization

3 years later, I continue on the post I originally started in Jan 2006. Let's see how my memory serves me.

....Riding thro the night, on spine straight roads, stopping by the eerie nuclear stillness of the pokhran dark, jaisalmer dawned upon me at 5 AM....

A town steeped in the stillness of the morning and cold, right down to the bones, greeted me. It was a somewhat familiar greeting, being that as sons of the last generation of normal, 'Men will be men and not metrosexual' days, I was used to undertaking wild journeys (some other day, I'll write on the truck ride to nowhere).

At 5 am, the town was asleep, Jaisalmer was not. It hooked me. I liked the air, it didn't let me cover the lack of sleep the night before. A series of discussions with touts and friends of friends and referrers later, we landed our bed (it was just about that)

At 6 am, I could not hold the curiosity back. Camera in hand, I started walking around town and came upon the Govt. Authorized Bhang shop. It would open in about 30 minutes and I was thrilled at the prospect of getting my dose of the nectar…(to be continued)
